I cannot believe that we have come to the very last
week of the Master’s program. The three things that are heartfelt and have
made an impact on my way of thinking are:
From
my Capstone class the community of practice, I’ll always
use the term "Community of Practice" when I am involved with a diverse group of
people committed to making changes.
From
my communications class, when I am in a conversation that
may result in differences of opinion, potential conflict or intervention, I will
always think about the "balcony approach" (taking a step back listening with intent and being respectful).
From
a public policy class, I feel confident and more educated
about federal, state and community laws and guidelines in early education. This
class has helped me in understanding the agencies by where these laws
come from and the resources that I could not have found on my own and it has educated
me on narrowing my focus for best results while working with my public policy group.
My long term goals are to become and finish out my last 23 years of my career as a professor and family relations advocate.
Professor Darragh,
I know you have been in the field a long time and your passion shows through pushing students to be all we can be, I have had the pleasure of speaking with you on the phone, I was always told “you can tell the heart of the person by what and how they speak to you” . You were very kind to me and I remember your invitation "call back if I needed help". The way you made me feel has left a positive impact and I will model those words to my future my students , thank you!

To my colleagues , our discussions has challenged me and educated me. You all
gave me strength to go to work each day and to come back to the discussion
board knowing that I would have your support and learn from your experiences. I
truly felt like we were in this together. I hope that I get the opportunity to
meet some of you at July’s graduation in Maryland.

VAL
Valerie,
ReplyDeleteIt has been a long and, at times, difficult journey with papers, discussions, blogs, etc. There were a couple of classes where I wasn't sure I would be able to finish. Sometimes everything felt like it was just piling up on me and I didn't know if I could keep my head above water so to speak. I also felt like having the responses from classmates would inspire me and help me to push through. I have no doubts that you will take this education and do wonderful things with it. I haven't decided yet if I will attend the commencement in Baltimore in July, it is a possibility. That is almost 6 hours away for me. You should be very proud of yourself though and I wish you the best of luck as you pursue your dreams.
Val, I like your word and how describe your class and you are true that we learn a lot from this class. I can not believe that we are at the end of the classI wish you the best as you pursue your career. I may meet you in July at Baltimore.
ReplyDeleteValerie,
ReplyDeleteIt has been a pleasure to work with you during the courses we had together. I learned so much from you and truly appreciate your feedback and guidance. You are an incredible woman and have so much to contribute to this field. I appreciate everything you have done and wish you much success!
